Spring Semester 2017

Hello Cibola Cougar Parents and Community!

I am most hopeful that you all enjoyed a wonderful holiday break to rejuvenate, sleep in, and that you shed some of the constraints of our busy, hectic schedules nowadays, and just gave into the spirit and fun of it all.

Of course, this semester will whiz by, but I’m hopeful that you’ll take some time to notice and enjoy all the things that make Cibola great…namely your students and our wonderful staff.

All important dates are cited on our website calendar and within your student’s agenda, but I’d like to note some key reminders here:

We have been working hard to help all students be great critical thinkers ready for a progressive world beyond high school, and we look forward to students gaining better and better skills and demonstrating all of their vast knowledge and confidence in lieu of life tests which includes the standardized exams in schools.  Please encourage your students to apply all of their brilliance with these tests, to invest completely.  I am asking that all students participate fully in their exams as they would so apply themselves to their studies, grades and extra-curricular activities. Thank you for your support.

Cibola has reached max enrollment capacity, and so, we are regrettably not accepting new transfers for the 2017-2018 school year.  Please do not inquire for exceptions, as due to equity, I cannot provide any allowances.  New transfers will be considered as we examine enrollment trends and classroom numbers going into 2017-2018. Of course, 8th to 9th grade siblings of students already attending on a transfer will be considered.

All dances will be strictly monitored for appropriate behavior, and students will encounter checkpoints of school staff before entering the dances. We have consistently warned about overtly sexual dancing for the past year, and for Winter Ball and Prom this semester, we will be asking couples engaging in this style of grind dancing to leave the dance without prior warning during the dance.  Please be advised and speak to your students accordingly.

In addition, students out of dress code and tardy in the hallways, will at random, be observed and given lunch detention on the spot to be served, in most cases, same day.

We are fully staffed in the classrooms, and we look forward to an academically and socially rewarding semester for all.

Thank you for your continued support as we strive to provide a safe, (emotionally and physically,) campus to enrich your students’ best academic interests and aptitudes, and to boost their confidence to reach beyond even their own expectations.

Pamela Meyer, Your Principal, Cibola High School
