Letter to the Class of 2018

IMPORTANT GRADUATION REMINDERS – CIBOLA CLASS OF 2018

One of the most important things you can do is subscribe to the Class of 2018’s remind.com account. Let’s face it, you don’t listen to announcements, but you do need to stay in the loop in terms of graduation happenings. I will text out important reminders, and I promise that I will not text too often. Text @coogs2018 to 81010 to subscribe.

  • The first senior activity will be the Senior Panoramic Photo. We will take this picture on November 28th, at the beginning of 2nd period in the gym. Senior T-shirts will be given out at this time. There is no charge for the T-shirts. Students will be given information about purchasing the photos during the photography session.
  • Students will be required to be in dress code to participate in Cibola’s commencement ceremonies. The dress code is as follows:
    • White cap and gown with gold stole purchased from campus specialties. They are a local company, located at 1529 Eubank Blvd # B, Albuquerque, NM 87112
    • Campus Specialties was on campus on 9/21 to talk about caps and gowns. If you (or your student) missed this meeting, they can pick up a packet in the Activities Office.
    • You may also order your cap and gown online at campusspecialtiesinc.com
      • After December 1st, the prices may increase. The deadline to purchase is March 1st , 2018.
  • Students must wear a white dress with white dress shoes or black slacks, white dress shirt, black tie, black socks, and black shoes. Questions about attire should be directed to Ms. Chavez.
  • I am still waiting for word as to the dates of senior finals and the last day of school for seniors. As soon as I know, I will let you know.
  • Senior Barbeque is still being planned. You will receive details ASAP. We usually have it after the seniors’ last day of school, and before graduation. Please make sure that you are registered for the remind.com account so that you receive this information. The BBQ is not required, but it is fun, and it is free!
  • Caps and Gowns will be handed out on Wednesday, May 9th at Cibola High School, at 1pm. You cannot receive your cap and gown until your account is clear of all fees. So…pay your fees before May 10th. You can check ParentVue/StudentVue online to pay student fees.
  • On Thursday, May 10th, we will have two activities that are required for all graduating seniors.
  1.    8:30 am – graduation rehearsal
  • Rehearsal will be followed by senior breakfast.
  • You must attend rehearsal, in full graduation attire, or you will not “walk the line”.
  1.    5:30 pm – Honors Assembly
  • At 5:30 pm all graduates must report back to Cibola to get ready for the Senior Awards Assembly.
  • The Awards Assembly begins at 6:30pm. Doors will open at 6:00.
  • Attendance, in full graduation attire, is mandatory.
  • Graduation is Friday, May 11th. The ceremony begins at 6:30 pm at Tingley Coliseum. Graduates will be asked to show up at approximately 4:15 pm. There are no tickets required for admission. Doors open at 5:30. Seating is on a first come, first served basis. Noisemakers, glass vases, balloons, and signs are prohibited.

Thanks,
