AP World History and Ethnic Studies

AP World History and World History

January 2018

AP World History - This month we will be finishing Period 3: Regional and Interregional Interactions (600 C.E. - 1450 C.E.).  We will be focusing on growing world interactions including the development of the Islamic Empire, the development of Eastern and Western Europe, the rise of Russia, Asian growth and development including China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam, as well as the Americas pre-colonization.  We will continue to learn AP specific skills such as Thesis development, DBQ (Document Based Question) development, and LEQ (Long Essay Question) development.  

 

 

Ethnic Studies - This month we will continue working on Unit 3: Hegemony and Counterhegemony.  We will discuss cycles of oppression and liberation through the study of different movements including Feminism, Civil Rights movement, freedom movements outside of the U.S. (South Africa, India, Australia), LGBTQ, Chicanx, etc.  This will include methods and systems of oppression, how and why people mobilize to action, and methods of resistance.
