Parent Letter 2017-2018

Dear Parents/Guardians (and students):

My name is Marc Raugust and I will be your student’s teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. I’d like to say
hello and provide you with a brief introduction to me and the classes I currently teach. I’ve been at Cibola High
School for 18 years and in that time have taught a veritable smorgasbord of classes, but consider my specialty to
be teaching language arts classes at the 11th grade level. This year I’ll teach AP English Language and
Composition (11th Grade) and Film Criticism (12th Grade).

Though I grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska, New Mexico’s pine forests and mesas have become my spiritual home, and the sunny Rio Grande valley is the place in which I long ago decided to settle down and raise my family.

Should you have any questions about the class, or the grading, or my policies in general, please visit the
Cibola High School website and find me on the staff page (I'll assume you've already done that). Once there you’ll be able to see the links to the syllabi/course descriptions and policies for the classes I teach, which should provide you with in-depth information, as well as a variety of ways that you can contact me should you have any questions. Just determine which class your student is in, and then click on the link, and you should have that information at your fingertips.

Additionally, if you (or your student) would like to access my gradebook in order to monitor their grades
and and progress, you can visit the main APS web page and search for StudentVUE or ParentVUE. Register for
the appropriate account, and you’ll be able to access that information very easily. This will connect you with the
Synergy student and parent information system, and can be quite useful for keeping track of your student.

I’d like to let you know that I also use Remind  (a text messaging service for students and teachers) in
order to send out alerts and reminders, which parents can use as well. The information and code should be on your child's Course Description document for my class. Ask them to show you (if necessary).

Finally, I utilize a website,, that posts my daily lesson plans so that students and parents can see what they might have missed should they have been out sick or missed class for another reason. The links to this can also be found on my Course Descriptions and Policies documents that you can find posted on the CHS web site (or that your students should have the link to).

I look forward to collaborating with you this year. Feel free to contact me should you have any questions.
