Spring Concerts and Festivals

Cibola Bands – Cluster Concert and District MPA Festival Itineraries

Wednesday – March 7th – Band Cluster Concert

6:00pm – Percussion/Steel Band Arrive and set up stage (percussion on stage/steel band in front

6:15pm – Wind Ensemble/Symphonic Band Arrive in Band Room and get out instruments for warm-up

6:50pm – Steel Band Performance

7:00pm – Concert Start (Order: JMMS Int, TMS, JMMS Adv, Winds, Symphonic)

8:20pm – Loading Crew/Percussion – Pack up the stage


Tuesday – March 13 – Wind Ensemble MPA Festival – Buses NOT provided

6th Period – Change into Uniform – Warm-Ups in Band Room – Percussion get instruments needed together

2:30pm – Pack Up and Load Up – There will not be a bus provided for this event.  Please arrange rides over to La Cueva High School.  The best way to get there is to take Alameda the whole way there across the river.  Then make a right on Wyoming NE.

3:55pm – Official Warm-Up Time

4:20pm – PERFORMANCE @ La Cueva High School Performing Arts Center

4:45pm – Sight Reading Assessment

5:10pm – Meeting and Pack Up

5:20pm – Depart for Cibola.  All are dismissed to home except percussion who will meet Mr. Matherne and Truman at Cibola to unpack instruments.  Also, students that wish to pack their instrument back into the band room after the event will meet at Cibola.

6:00pm – Unpack at Cibola.


Wednesday – March 14 – Symphonic Band MPA Festival @ La Cueva – Buses Provided

2:20pm – Arrive at La Cueva – Unload Buses – Unpack Percussion *Please be quiet in hallways*

3:05pm – Official Warm-Up Time

3:30pm – Performance Time

3:55pm – Sight Reading Assessment

4:25pm – Meeting and Pack Up

4:30pm – Load Buses and depart for Cibola. 

5:00pm – Arrive at Cibola – Unload and pack away all instruments.

5:10pm – Dismiss!



  1. For MPA, if students wish to ride home with a parent, a note must be provided ahead of time.
  2. Mr. Matherne and Mr. Rainbird will announce the show if the group gets a “Superior” rating at festival.
  3. Please make sure that all students are prepared for their performance with a clean Tuxedo/Dress, dress shoes, and black socks.
